The most expensive PRD I ever wrote was also the least useful. It was complete, thorough, and perfectly formatted — and it changed nothing, because the team had aligned on the shape of the solution without me.

What actually ships is shared understanding. Write the smallest document that aligns the team, spend the saved time on conversations, and treat the PRD as a byproduct of alignment rather than its source.
